Why I Keep Coming Back to Abstract Watercolor Painting
There’s something about abstract watercolor painting that keeps calling me back.
Not because it’s easy, but because every painting asks me to let go of the need to control the outcome. Some days the paint seems to know exactly where it wants to go. Other days it surprises me completely. I've learned that those surprises are often the most beautiful part.

In the video above, I'm creating one of my abstract watercolor paintings from start to finish. You'll see how I build up transparent layers, soften edges, let colours mingle naturally, and trust the water to do some of the work for me. There isn't a rigid plan—just curiosity and a willingness to see what appears.
Abstract painting has taught me so much about creativity. It reminds me that every mark doesn't need to have a purpose straight away. Sometimes a loose brushstroke becomes the foundation for the whole painting. Sometimes the colours that seem wrong at first become exactly what the piece needed.
